One of my buddies from Illinois showed up yesterday and not only was I graced with his presence but he came baring hockey tickets. And not just any seats but one row off the glass which made for an awesome viewing experience even though our team got spanked.
My sports photography skills are for shit but I think this fight shot gives an idea of my fan experience. I was also trying to get a picture of the woman sitting next to me but her 5’4”-ness would have made it too obvious. She was a motormouth and a not-so-great chirper which was driving my friend crazy especially as the home team kept scoring goals. I might have kept that fire stoked once I noticed it was wearing at him even amping up some unnecessary flirting to enhance the burn.
We walked back to my apartment through the tunnel/skyway system and I only got turned around twice. I don’t usually walk that way because between my place and the Excel is where all the bad things happen. When we entered the worst part two fine fellows were apparently giving each other flu shots in their thighs right there on the floor which didn’t seem sanitary but the state of the health care system has been in decline for a while. They were both in a great mood even inquiring as to the results of the contest we just witnessed. Eyes of all pupil and glass one broke into a slow slur song as we walked away. I think I got a different shot varient.
Monday’s double homicide has caused some security changes in the walkway system and as we traversed the worst of it we were forced outside for the final two block stretch. The officer who let us out into the cold was very friendly but you could tell that the two giant white men trying to be funny wasn’t going down on her list of daily gratitudes. Any journey where you arrive home safely is a good one and in spite of the loss it was a great night.
His plans are fluid right now but I’m watching the snow fall outside my window so it will be his choice of heading home or hanging out today. This is the friend I stay with when visiting Illinois as he still lives in my old neighborhood and is in the same state of unmarried as I. This means that like me, his weekend are a wonderful mix of whatever I want on the todo list.
I should probably turn on the news to get a jump on the weather to help him be informed. Hopefully I will find my new favorite Big Weather Man.
I took this earlier in the week one night when I got home. Large male humans have always done well in the meteorological space and I love to watch that trend continue with the next generation. There’s something inherently trustworthy about the big cuddly weather guesser. I’m going to stop now before I get too far down another side road. Have a great weekend!
