This thing leaves my mind sometimes
Being busy is great. I am at a job that challenges me every day and I feel like I am bringing more value than ever before. The travel only annoys me when things screw up with an airline, other than that it’s just a part of the gig. The things in my personal life that suffer are some of the things I like to do, like (shitty sentence alarms going off in my brain) writing this thing. (and yet I typed “thing” again…) I try to do this on the weekends as I relax and prepare for the next week but busy trumps all lately.
Saturday I went up to Madison with my brother and family to attend a Badger game with my niece. 6:00am pick up time had us in a bar drinking before 9. Then ran into friends and off we went to another bar before an 11:00am kickoff. My friend ordered shots for our combined group and they were straight up awful. So bad in fact that my nephew had the thing immediately bounce. As he bravely tried to keep the payload contained in his mouth his body had other ideas and expelled the invader through his nasal cavity. Hard to come back from a nose vomit but he rallied like a champ.
The game itself was great but we were seated at the top of the stadium and the sun decided to sear my right side. I had a new hat so I could represent yet another adopted college to protect my bare scalp but nothing was covering my right cheek and forearm. And my old man glasses acted like a magnifying glass apparently burning a small circle into my face so I’ve got that going for me…
On the way home my brother and I were banished to the back seats and I continued to roast my right arm. Later as I got ready for bed it was starting to look like. turkey leg at a renaissance fair. I spent Sunday itching and even today I’m still dealing with ruined skin slough off but this is the price one pays for fun. I capped off Saturday night with a well deserved nap followed by a curiously strong gummy from my weed sommelier daughter. Unfortunately that led to some tortured sleep fueled by the knowledge that my just visited god child will be dressing as Ronald McDonald for halloween. A CLOWN… The betrayal cuts deep.
Finally in other news, I enjoyed a delicious Coors Light in its hometown of Golden Colorado and even got a glimpse of the mothership.
