Last weekend living in Illinois
This was a weird one. I had fully planned on doing something Saturday night but this pesky pandemic is a real pain in the crack. So I just packed things up and swept the house for anything important I might be leaving behind. Read a mediocre book and went to bed early. I almost fit everything into the little Jeep but I was one small box, my big suitcase, and my scramble clubs, shy. I probably could have strapped all that to the roof but I'm staying in a hotel tonight so I can take care of business first thing tomorrow and out of all of that I can't replace the clubs. I think they are considered Vintage because they are so old.
Speaking of hotels, I pulled up to my original choice and there wasn't a soul in site. Not a car in the lot. I tried to get in with no luck and they weren't answering their phone. I had the strangest feeling so I skeedaddled and booked another room across town. Like way across town in case whatever happened at the first one decided to try and follow. Yup, the feeling was that strong and that weird.
Got here earlier than expected and I had some time on my hands so I went on an Ikea scouting mission. I'm not getting any furniture over there but I do need some essentials and those crazy Swedes do a nice price to quality level on certain things. I am a man on an all new budget now so that matters. I almost bought some stuff when I remembered that I would have to hold any purchases out the window and carry it up in to my room tonight. Then drive over to my new apartment again with the bag in hand out an opening as I drove.
First impressions are always a coin flip but there's no need to tilt things against me on purpose. There will be plenty of opportunities for me to be off-putting so my plan is to start slow. This week when I drive back to town with the boy I will just be a visitor. weird.
