irritant
As a shopper on a budget I've been sniffing around Facebook marketplace since my arrival in this frozen town. I have yet to score the unbelievable bargain that everyone claims exists but I've met some extremely nice people during my masked inspection interactions. I have also met some not-so-sneaky scammers but they aren't who I'm here to talk about. (okay, I won't just let that hang there unanswered. Not really scammers just people hiding the glaring flaws of their items trying to peddle their awful garbage onto someone else and hoping to make a few dollars in the process.)
I was looking for a gift and noticed a guy selling something similar. A bunch of something similar, brand new, but not exactly what I wanted. So I sent him a note asking if he had access to other variations. I'll just tell you what it was because I'm in danger of confusing myself. I was looking for a specific throwback football jersey and he had other players and other teams. I used to have a company that made knockoff jerseys but they were in China and the things would show up 3 months later. I thought this guy might have a similar hookup.
I sent him a very pleasant note inquiring if he might have access to the exact jersey I was searching for not expecting much but there was a chance. I even let him know that if he didn't I was not trying to waste his time and I apologized in advance. The less than cordial response was rude and called me a moron. Interesting. A simple "no" would have sufficed.
With loads of time on my hands and a fresh chip on my shoulder I decided to write back. I let him know that again I was sorry but now I was offended as well and I would like to buy a 2xl Tall version of what he was selling so we could discuss his manners in person.
The next thing I knew he left the conversation or whatever its called in Facebook messenger speak. The good thing about the marketplace is you need to use your name for the most part and his was very distinct. So I looked him up and repeated my offer. He then blocked me which prevented me from finding or directly communicating with him again but the aforementioned time on my hands led to to his wife.
I reached out to her and explained my desire to do business with and have an ethical discussion with her mate which got me yet another blocking. Undeterred I made up an entirely new me and reached back out to his listing only this time as a friend of real me. I was bored at this point but decided to let him know that sometimes Karma shows up in person. I'll just let that marinate.
