Hot walk
I was out for a walk on this beautiful day and I noticed a commotion at the upscale riverside unhoused encampment. It turned out that one of these all summer long semipermanent campers had burned his house/tent to the literal ground thus catching the brown grass on fire. This made the other residents understandably uneasy as none of their dwellings offer any protection from live flames.
This is especially problematic since many of the drugs popular with the permanent vacation crowd require fire for speedy delivery into the system. Life is the result of personal choices and sometimes you get dealt a setback. I was going to take a picture of the goings on but it somehow seemed disrespectful. So I scurried to my parking garage and took this not so terrible drive-by-spy shot.
They were done wetting the area by the time I swung by. Tomorrow I’ll walk by again and I’ll try to time my hike around predictable siesta times during the day. Keep your heads on a swivel especially if you live in a tent packed full of combustibles.
