Happy Labor Day
The 2024 Minnesota State Fair is officially in the rear view mirror and I for one am glad. For some reason this year the “annual gathering” kicked my ass. My son drove up Friday night and we spent close to six hours Saturday seeing all the things. The day started strong as we walked in Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson was leaving with his group so the people watching began with that sweet mullet.
My child shares my love of the weird 4H exhibits and we spent a bunch of time wandering around the different entrants. This year I was particularly fascinated by the scarecrow competition.
Snoop was by far my favorite because the only message he was trying to send was support for the olympians and keeping the pesky corn thieves away.
I wanted to love the Hamm’s Bear but I think that might have been a Halloween costume.
and as a side note FUCK THAT BABY WEARING A MASK SITTING ON A CHAIR OF DENTAL MOLDS. nightmare fuel
Seed art is another of my fascinations and the thinking is; if you can paint it, you can glue seeds in the same pattern. I’d stopped taking pictures at that point because I was a little buzzed and definitely overheating until I came across the following masterpiece and couldn’t help myself.
For those not in the know I once had a playlist with over 40 versions of the iconic ballad Jolene. Originally designed to annoy a coworker who hated the song when I said I loved it, I finally had to delete the entire list as the algorithm assumed that I loved it so much I needed to hear some version of the song every fourth tune or so. Annoyed myself there.
I need to get back to packing as I am just a few days away from the big move. Procrastination is a cruel mistress and I have succumbed to her wiles long enough.
