got lucky
First off this apartment hunt has been worse than expected. I had a place I really liked turn out to be just like an app based date - a web of lies. The lesson I learned was if it looks too good to be true then it probably is. Without boring into too much detail the price was market low, they included everything under the sun, and when I got there it smelled. bad. nope.
*side note: The dude that arrived to show me the place seemed to be in his mid forties and he got dropped off by what appeared to be his dad. When I asked him if that was mold in the tub he had no idea what mold was. Not a great representative.
Yesterday I had a whirlwind tour of places some that would work but I didn’t love them and others that were a hard no the second I walked in. Eight and a half solid hours of apartment search and the one that I fell in love with was too expensive so I passed. Mistakes were made on my part including getting tired halfway through and trying a Celsius energy drink. It didn’t say caffein anywhere on the can but I assumed there was some included in the energy bump. 2+ weeks with no Diet Coke and that was my first dalliance with the power juice. Holy Hell. The back half of the day I was on another level.
Turns out that evil little can had 200mg of the good stuff in it and when I finally came down I crashed HARD. It was between two places and I told everyone I would let them know by Monday but as I was driving home the one I loved called me. It was a condo being rented by a dude who lives in Florida. Nice guy and he wanted to know what happened. I told him that my eyes were bigger than my wallet but I loved the place and he offered to lower the price if I leased it for 18 months.
I ran the numbers through the Bozoputer in my head and after adding up the things this one included it was only $65 more per month. So I decided to treat myself for the next year and a half because I will not have a chance to live in something like this after this for anywhere close to the price. (okay, that sentence sucked. apologies) It’s brand new and I will be the first human to occupy the space. My landlord got transferred before construction was complete and he wanted to get it rented ASAP. Looking at comparable units elsewhere I am getting a screaming deal and I couldn’t be happier.
My new fridge has a beverage center which works well with my new water centered lifestyle. I am confused by some of the features but all manuals are there for my perusal.
Brand new full sized washer dryer in my spoiled kitchenlaundryroom. Microwave under the island is new but I didn’t want to take a ton of pictures yet. I took these on the tour as wish list items for other properties. Everything is white and clean and I will need to add some color to this place as I’m sure I will hear about it from my friends if I don’t. Added bonus; my new walking track will be Minnehaha Falls park. A good weekends work all considered.
