Got lazy
When you don’t own a home your project list gets dramatically reduced. It’s been more than a year since I had a weekend filled with projects. So when I ordered my new couch I thought it would be simple. I should explain the couch thing.
When I left Illinois I didn’t bring much with me so I ordered most of my furniture on the line. My couch is a great example. It was leather and pretty plus it disassembled for easy moving. But once I used it for a while it became obvious that it wasn’t designed for the big and tall gentleman.
It annoyed me to the point that I went shopping. I found something I loved and I got to test drive it in an actual store. Financing, sales, and even a little help from my eldest the teacher (they call it a hero discount) lead to 12 boxes showing up in my mailroom. And that was project number one.
It took an hour of two heavy box at a time trips to get everything into my apartment. Then another hour to unpack and organize for assembly. 40 minutes were spent fitting the covers over the various parts and cushions. And final assembly took a mere 20 minutes.
I was dead ass tired but spent the next hour cleaning up and recycling a mountain of packing materials. All of this to plop down on the new thing and pass out while watching a movie. At some point in the night I woke up cold (it’s spring and I refuse to run the heat. Snow flurries be dammed) and moved to the bed.
I woke up happy because the project was complete.
I’ll post a full house tour when I remember to take more pictures. For those of you zooming in and creeping on the photo those giant satellite dishes outside my window aren’t a DARPA site. That is Minnesota public television which comes in great here for some reason.
