In the old days if I posted something that gave me a case of the regrets I could just go delete it and feel better. This new format keeps me honest. I don’t go back and edit partially because I’m lazy and also due to potential overthinking issues. Sending this out as an email limits my censorship options because you would see the original nonsense as well as what I changed so the best one is to suck it up and move on. I really don’t remember exactly what I wrote just how it made me feel hitting publish. I was in a weird head space and didn’t have anyone to talk it through with. (I have plenty of friends willing to talk but unloading brain trash is a burden I’m uncomfortable sharing) An odd feeling at that time usually indicates that I’ve overshared but thankfully I don’t HAVE to reread anything.
This morning has been great. I slept for close to ten hours which I never do. I think exhaustion was partially to blame for the recent mental storms. Now the world is bright and clear. As I headed out for a walk it feels like my favorite season is already upon us. Fall Rules and I am ready for it to begin.
I mentioned a while ago that the homeless people had vanished almost overnight to be replaced by a dog park. I get cleaning up the encampments because they were getting out of hand but the timing seemed strange. That is until I went for a walk last Saturday.
That is the new Viking cruise ship that starts in Saint Paul and goes all the way down to New Orleans. 15 days starting at $13,000 or you can go to Saint Louis in 8 of those days starting at $4,500. All the rooms are balcony suites and I would love to take this ride. It literally starts two blocks from my current home.
One of the appeals for me is if shit goes sideways while underway there is a better than average shot I could make it to safety.
That orange snow fencing in the distance is the future dog park and had it still been there it might have made a bumpy start for an expensive voyage. A month ago there were enough tents where it looked like a weird little river festival. And the place where the boat is tied up had a bunch of alfresco sleeping going on. As long as you’re looking at this shot I’ve added Dude Who Sits In A Chair On Top Of The Boat to my list of potential semiretirement gigs. I’m not sure what he’s doing but I’m in.
