I have spent the day getting ready for mostly sunny Florida. Before you think me lucky it’s to put on an event that I am partially responsible for, so that takes some of the fun right out. In fact I spend the first couple days in a bit of a twist as different things need to show up and fall in place. Once all the speakers get there on Wednesday I can breathe a little easier but then there is Thursday and Friday where I hope they exceed my expectations and the participants enjoy the show. I will try to post from the road but things get bumpy with the current state of air travel. There are also no direct flights to our destination so I’ve got that minor hemorrhoid to deal with all day tomorrow.
It turns out that the first quarter of this year will have me on the road about every other week. I haven’t traveled this much in years so it will take some getting used to. My dry-cleaning game has gone dormant so I need to get back at it if I’m going to have enough dress clothes to get my job done. Shouldn’t be a problem because like my time here in downtown this is temporary. Suburbs give me way more options and with bonus less stray bullet potential.
That is a shot (see what I did there?) from my walking path around the skyway system. My track takes 28 minutes to complete at a pretty good clip and sometimes I take dead ends that have been created due to the recent troubles. So there is some doubling back involved but I avoid the rough patch where that stray bullet originated. Today I was feeling myself after completion and decided to take the stairs up to my apartment. At turn 7 it felt like this could have been a life altering bad decision but I slowed my pace and made it up the next two floors. I’m putting that little challenge on hold until I can build up some more endurance and or get my fat ass to a doctor to make sure everything’s running as it should.
This is exactly why I don’t post more because I don’t have a lot going on right now. The only good story from the weekend wasn’t even that good. A batshitcrazy disabled homeless dude asked me if I could give him a hand on Saturday. I wasn’t paying close attention and said sure. When I got close he showed me his forearm stump and smirked as if I were caught in his web. I was immediately taken aback then laughed. Innovation deserves reward so I gave him the $11 I had on me. The only thing I don’t like about that interaction is now that one won’t work on me again.
