First, thanks for all of the concern and apologies for an undercooked health related post. I really should think about how this nonsense could be interpreted… The gist of things is a doctor’s visit took a turn when some results were not ideal and now I am in the midst of course correcting some lifelong bad behavior. Good news is I sailed through my 4th of July week without drinking and that was made possible by visiting my family. Just being around them charges my internal batteries.
It was a near perfect couple of days save the hostess trying to set me up with someone who would be “perfect for me.” Holy Hell, unless you are talking about a woman who wants to hang out on the odd weekend night or be available for must have a date situations my brain can’t conjure its own perfect match let alone a setup. If something happens it will out of the blue and most likely when I start looking again. Right now I’m happy working and now trying to work myself out of a pickle.
I beat feet back a day early to avoid the traffic caused by NASCAR invading Chicago on top of the normal holiday weekend traffic. Max was in the car with me but he needed some restorative sleep as he was tasked with entertaining my brother in my drinking absence. This was no small ask and he earned his nap on the way home. I was going to sleep on his couch until he suggested that we stop and buy a blanket for me to use as their spare had developed “a smell.” Nope. trucked up to my parents for the night and an early start closer to home.
The other reason I wanted to get back on Saturday was to get my full gap day today. Before heading out this week I have packing and cleaning to do as well as all of the normal work preparedness rituals. It’s the habits that keep my brain calm.
Tried to take a walk last night but I only got to the top of the block when my spideysense began to tingle. Multiple groups of roaming teens were circling a party happening across the street and the air was charged with hormones and potential trouble. I did sit outside in my chair like the grumpy old man I am waiting for trouble to kick off but it never came.
This morning I doubled p on the normal track in the morning before the weather heated up and I’m glad I did because the falls are still putting on a show.
I’m going to miss this walking track when I move. I hope you all have complete hands after the holiday. Just read about that dad who put a firework on his hat… Merica.
