Big day yesterday
My bed finally arrived. I got the notification from my robot door man camera thingy that a package arrived. Turned out that it was 143lbs of folded vacuum sealed mattress. As I am not as young as I once was so I retreated to the apartment of solitude and retrieved my foldable hand truck.
Once I was back in the apartment with the goods I set about unboxing. Some of my coworkers requested a video because none of us could figure out how to ship a California King mattress that has springs. I was considering it (actually filming) until disaster struck.
I got it out of the box and half way wrestled onto the frame when it was time to unbind it one step further allowing the fold to open up. I was carefully cutting through the plastic binding when I nicked the thicker final layer. A horrible hissing sound got steadily louder and the thing began to expand like a self inflating life raft.
The other half violently opened up and caught me in the thigh only because I turned last second sensing that my junk was in danger. It put me to the ground so luckily no cameras were on. Now I had a problem as to cutting the rest of the plastic away and removing it from the setup. That took about fifteen minutes of grunting and pulling.
I will say that is the best I’ve slept since moving here. Nothing against my couch but I am too big to consistently sleep in a crib.
